Julie Beck Speaks at Orange County Annual Dinner

The Orange County, California chapter of the JRCLS held its Annual Dinner on September 13, 2013.  We were honored to have Julie B. Beck as our special keynote speaker.  Sister Beck was the LDS General Relief Society President from 2007-2012.  

Orange County JRCLS member Jeffrey R. Matsen introduced Sister Beck. He had been a missionary under Sister Beck’s father, who was the mission president in Brazil.  He remembered Sister Beck as a child running around the mission home during that time.

Sister Beck spoke on “How Vision Shapes Leadership.” It was inspiring and uplifting to hear her talk on having vision for your own life.  She spoke about striving to be fruitful in life.  Sister Beck shared stories and examples from the life of her parents.  Her very personal message was moving.  We were pleased to have such an influential women head lining this event. 

Also during this dinner, the Orange County JRCLS awarded the 2013 J. Reuben Clark Award to Jeffrey V. Dunn.  In Orange County, the J. Reuben Clark award is given each year to a recipient who exemplifies the society motto: We affirm the strength brought to the law by a lawyer's personal religious conviction. We strive through public service and professional excellence to promote fairness and virtue founded upon the rule of law.  

Mr. Dunn is a worthy recipient.  He is a partner of Best Best & Krieger LLP.  Just this month, he was selected as one of California’s Top 100 Attorneys by the Los Angeles Daily Journal.  He handles complex litigation matters including water resource litigation and represents local governments on other complex litigation matters.  We thank him for his service and example.
