2013 Annual JRCLS Conference in Washington, D.C.

In case you haven't heard, the 2013 Annual JRCLS Conference is going to be held in Washington, D.C.  on Thursday, February 14th (yes, Valentine's Day) through Saturday, February 16th.

All are invited to attend.  All are welcome to attend.

The Conference's keynote speakers will be Justice Clarence Thomas, of the United States Supreme Court and Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Women in Law will be sponsoring two events.  The first one is our annual breakfast, which will be held on Friday morning, February 15th.  This breakfast is a great time to gather as women to meet one another, share war stories (family and work), gain strength from one another and create or strengthen ties with other women of faith who have been trained in the law.  As part of that breakfast, we have arranged to have a short presentation entitled "Practice Options: Full Time, Part Time or Create Your Own".  Michelle Olsen and Elizabeth Smith will be the speakers.

The other event Women in Law will be sponsoring is a panel of judges that will be addressing law students and others that may have an interest in a judicial clerkship.  It is entitled "Judicial Clerkships: Are They for You?".  The panelists will be  Judges Sharon Prost (US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit), Marian Horn (US Court of Federal Claims), Daniel Barker (Arizona Court of Appeals) and Aaron Mahler (former state appellate and DC Circuit clerk).  This session will also take place on Friday, February 15th. It will be held at 4:00pm.

There will be many other wonderful speakers addressing a variety of topics.  Some of the other women who will be speaking include the following: Judges Marjorie Clagett and Julie Weatherly (Maryland circuit court judges), Beth Brinkmann (Deputy assistant attorney general in the US Department of Justice), Maureen Mahoney (former deputy solicitor general and now working as an appellate attorney for Latham & Watkins) and Stephanie Pugsley (trial, appellate and ADR attorney at Kirton & McConkie).

You can find detailed Conference and registration information at www.jrclsconference.com.  Hope to see you there.
