“Welcome to our future” was the title my husband gave to
this picture on his facebook page. Young Women from Platte City, Mo, Liberty, Mo and Topeka, Ks
met at the UMKC Law School for a tour last Wednesday night as a young women’s
activity.
The event started at 6:30pm to
allow plenty of travel time. Tours were
given by the JRCLS student chapter presidency.
Amy Hill and Keegan Whipple led the tours.
Our own female JRCLS member, Professor Rana Lehr-Lehnardt, spoke about gaining
knowledge and her personal story of how her and her spouse were able to move to
make each other’s dream careers come true and that when one maybe thought they
were sacrificing something wonderful always
seemed to come to fruition. She now gets
to teach constitution law.
Kalista Hill helped organize the event as part of her
Personal Progress goals and had goodie bags including a pocket constitution,
notebook, and UMKC pen and luggage tag waiting for each of the girls and of
course, dessert was also provided at the hand of Kalista Hill who made everyone
rice krispie treats.
Thank you to JRCLS Blog spot for giving us this idea for a
young women’s activity. Please keep the
ideas coming and submit your events. Can
you imagine what it would be like for LDS young women to fill up law schools
around the world? This truly can be our
future.
